Character speed stays fast so you learn rhythm, not counting. Grow the effective speed over time.
How fast each character itself is keyed. Keep at 20+ — never learn slow characters.
Overall pace — the spacing between characters stretches to hit this. Raise it as you improve.
Sending-side settings — key type, iambic mode, paddle reverse, keyer speed, sidetone pitch, and volume — live in the keyer bar at the bottom of every page.
How Morsey trains you
- Koch method: start with just K and M at full speed; a new character unlocks only when you hit 90% accuracy, so you're always challenged but never drowning.
- Farnsworth timing: characters are always keyed fast (rhythm recognition), while extra thinking space between them shrinks as your effective speed rises.
- Adaptive drilling: characters and phrases you miss are weighted to appear more often until they stick.
- Streaks, combos & XP: short daily sessions beat marathon cramming — the streak keeps you honest.
Keyer feel
The deep menu of a real rig's keyer — tune these until your key feels like the genuine article. Key type, speed, and reverse live in the keyer bar below.
Iambic & bug element length; also calibrates manual-dah classification. Standard morse is 3.0 — rigs typically offer 2.8–4.5. Heavier weight sounds "fatter" on the air.
Straight key & bug dahs: hold at least this many dit-lengths and the press classifies as a dah. 2.0 is the midpoint of a 1-unit dit and a 3-unit dah. Lower if your dahs read as dits.
Continuously calibrates the dit estimate toward your actual keying (straight/bug). Turn off for a fixed threshold derived from the keyer speed — stricter, like keying a real rig.
Manual presses shorter than this are discarded as contact chatter. Raise it for a bouncy vintage key, lower it for clean keyboard sending. (The Pico bridge adds its own 5 ms.)
Decoder patience: how much silence commits a letter (nominal 3 dits) or inserts a space (nominal 7). Tighten as your spacing improves — a real skimmer expects true 3/7 spacing.
